Miho & Diego Duo and Friends return by popular demand !
Miho & Diego Duo |
Join us for an exciting performance of the Sounds of Japan and Latin America: Miho Takekawa on the marimba and Diego Coy playing the quena, a traditional Andean flute. Miho and Diego combine their distinctive warm, natural wood sounds and take the listener on a musical journey from Japan to South America. Playing a brand of music that is truly their own, the Duo’s repertoire covers an amazingly wide range of styles with an innovative approach. They have produced 4 CDs featuring music of the Andes, traditional South American folk, Brazilian, Japanese, jazz and Latin jazz music, and original compositions.
Dr Miho Takekawa, originally from Tokyo, Japan, is percussion lecturer at Pacific Lutheran University as well as Japan Tour Coordinator and Activities Liaison for the University of Washington.
Diego Coy is from Santiago de Cali, Colombia, where he was Director of “Fundacion Viva La Musica” and “Fundacion Funmusica” in Cali. Since arriving in Seattle in 2003, Diego has performed at many regional festivals and received a recording grant from the King County 4CultureSpecial Project and the “Quinbaya Award” from Centro Cultural Hispano Americano Organization in Washington.
