Classical Tuesdays' Wine & Song Succeeds All-Round
Tuesday was the Classical Tuesdays Wine & Song Benefit, held at the John Connelly Law Offices. Walking into the Office lobby we were greeted by seasonal greenery, poinsettias, a tinseled tree and the glow of festive lights reflected on the highly polished woodwork.
The highlight of the evening was the beautiful performance by soprano Cyndia Sieden and pianist Jennifer Bowman. They performed the beautiful Pie Jesu by Faure and songs of Musto, Saint-Saens and Richard Strauss. Of special interest were three songs based on poetry of Cal Kinnear composed by Tacoma composer Greg Youtz. Encores included arias from Rigoletto and Candide. The music sounded wonderful in the salon-setting of the Office space.
The reception table was beautifully set by Old Town neighbor Chris Reynolds displaying lovely cookies and quite an array of tasty finger foods contributed by Old Town neighbors and by Metropolitan Market. Some lovely wines were poured by Sonie of the Ginkgo Forest Winery Tasting Room; another neighborly Old Town supporter.
A huge round of applause goes to these special supporters of this successful evening:

Dec 8 Cyndia Sieden "Star of the Evening" $25 Tickets available at Bayview Optical
The star of the upcoming Classical Tuesdays' Wine & Song Benefit is internationally renowned soprano Cyndia Sieden. Sieden has programmed songs by local composer Gregory Youtz and New York composer John Musto, as well as songs by composers of the late Romantic and early modern eras Richard Strauss and Camille Saint-Saens. Jennifer Bowman will accompany her at the piano.
Sieden has starred at most of the world's great opera houses, including the Munich Bayerische Staatsoper, the New York Met, Paris's Opéra Bastille, the Wiener Staatsoper, Barcelona's Gran Teatre de Liceu, Brussels's La Monnaie, and London's Covent Garden and English National, as well as in Beijing and Australia. Her highly-praised Metropolitan Opera debut was as Berg's Lulu, and her success quickly led to reengagement in 2008 for Die Zauberflöte's Queen of the Night, one of her signature roles. Sieden is much in demand for Orff's Carmina Burana, the oratorios and masses of Handel, Mozart, and Haydn, and works of Bach, Strauss and Mahler. She has sung with many of the most renowned symphony orchestras in the world
The significant milestone in her studies was work with Elisabeth Schwarzkopf in master classes in Carmel Valley, CA in 1982. Schwarzkopf then invited Sieden to become her private student, and also to work with her in master classes at the 1983 Salzburg Mozarteum. Sieden sang in the culminating concert/competition and won first place, the springboard for her first professional engagements.
Sieden has earned high praise from Arts Critics around the world:
