Tacoma Composers: world premiers of compositions by Tacoma
composers

Anderson and
Kareem
Kandi. In creating this program, I asked our composers to
write a piece inspired by something or someone of special interest
here in the Northwest.
As part of the
Metal-Urge aspect of the Tacoma
Arts Month, we'll hear an improvised work by
Miho
Takekawa on vibraphones (a metallophone, made of metal
bars).
Many familiar faces will be on stage Tuesday! Besides returning
composers Rob, Greg and Deborah, several performers from past
Classical
Tuesdays concerts have been invited by the composers to
perform their works: we welcome back mezzo-soprano
Dawn
Padula (2013 Wine & Song), cellist
Stuart
Hake (The Manette Trio, November 2011), harpist
Margaret
Shelton (October 2013), and Miho Takekawa (January 2010,
February 2011,September 2014).
New to the series is composer/saxophonist Kareem Kandi and his
Trio and also mezzo-soprano
Erin
Calata.

greet some of Tacoma's finest music-makers!
